My wife is traveling out of US to Dubai and then India. She wants to take 6 packs of THC gummies that her friends have asked for. I drew a hard line that I cannot have her take this risk. Now she and her friends are calling me a party pooper and pressuring me to change my mind.
I worked really hard to get to US and have just got my first job here. I cannot have her risk it all.
Am I being extra paranoid? AITA for being such a hardline impediment to their recreation?
Update: I literally begged her to not do this and now she says she can either go through a different country instead and take 2 packs or I pay her friends for the amount of gummies and discard them. I’ve agreed to pay them.
Update 2: I have offered to pay for a return ticket to US to her friends so they come and pick their stuff up. Not paying for gummies anymore. I think once they refuse this will help my wife realize how shitty those friends are. If they do take the offer, good for them. I think she might be afraid of losing her friends. I will take this time to reevaluate my life and choices. Have also changed her itinerary from Dubai to a western country and then india (in case she still goes ahead without telling me) in light of messages here. Thank you so much for your responses. Dubai is famously lenient on drug smuggling, she might even be allowed to come home in 30 years
I remember years ago reading about somebody that was jailed in Dubai for having an incredibly small amount of cannabis stuck to the underside of his shoe.I remember it vividly as my friend was travelling to another country with a stop off/change in Dubai. He was a music teacher at the time and smoked every now and again and he was so scared of going there after we heard the story he actually changed his flights.I remember him saying “I’m not going to be an international prisoner for stepping on a bit of weed on the way out of my house”.OPs wife is an idiot for even considering this. I can’t express how clueless she is in this situation
